Turmeric milk is a comforting, relaxing and an extremely nutritious drink. There are a number of benefits of this healthy drink because of its antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties , it improves heart health, it helps control blood sugar levels, it boosts our immunity & brain functioning. As its rich in curcumin hence it helps to fight inflammation in the body and because of its anti-oxidant properties it protects our body from any damage from free radicals.
You can prepare turmeric milk / golden milk at your home with only a few ingredients and avail all the numerous health benefits it offers.
Ingredients & Method:
Almond Milk : 2 cups ( you can also use coconut milk )
Organic Turmeric : 1 tea spoon
Cinnamon stick : 1
Black Pepper : freshly ground 1/2 teaspoon
Method : In a pan add all the above ingredients and let it come to a boil, then let it simmer for sometime to infuse all the flavours. You can add honey to sweeten it but personally i prefer to be without any sweeteners . Adding black pepper is beneficial as turmeric has this compound ‘Curcumin’ which is responsible for giving it its medicinal properties but the problem is that it is not absorbed well in the body , so by adding black pepper , it increases the absorption of curcumin , as black pepper contains a compound called ‘Piperine’.
You can have it at any time of the day but my personal preference is to have a warm cup of this comforting drink just before sleeping.
